About Svtoo

"Svtoo" stands for "Software Version 2" (SV2). The name Software v2 was inspired by Andrej Karpathy's article Software 2.0 where he describes a new way of building software using machine learning.

At Svtoo, we are dedicated to transforming the way software is developed. Our AI-driven platform, Micro, automates the creation and deployment of microservices, enabling teams to accelerate their development cycles, reduce costs, and maintain high-quality standards.

What sets Svtoo's Micro apart from other AI-driven development tools is that Micro does not hand you the code to deploy and maintain, it takes care of the entire process. You define the requirements, and Micro does the rest. In this way, you not only can develop new software using an AI tool but also maintain it with the same tool. Fixing a bug or adding a new feature is as simple as defining a new requirement or altering an existing one.

Testimonials

Here are some testimonials from our early adopters and alpha testers:

  • "...what I used today was totally awesome! The ease of defining what I want without seeing actual code, and then deploying it so fast, that is incredible." - Principal Software Engineer, FAANG company.
  • "...with only a few use cases that I hadn't fully thought through, the solution was exactly as desired..." - Director of Engineering, AutoScout24.
  • "...in only 15 minutes, I created and deployed an API to the cloud for the first time in my life..." - Web Developer in Test, Later Inc.

Our Vision

The purpose of virtually all software is its functionality ("What" it does). However, the majority of software development effort is spent on the implementation details ("How" it does it). The end users don't care if the software is written in Java or Python; they care what it does. The users do not care if it is deployed on AWS or Azure; they care that it is available and reliable.

At Svtoo, we believe that Data is the new programming language and as such, we are dedicated to creating a world where software development is faster, more efficient, and more accessible to everyone. We believe that the future of software development is in defining requirements, not in writing code.

Not only is developing new software much faster, but the maintenance of such software is simply incomparable in speed and reliability to Software 1.0. With Micro, developers need to do the only thing they actually have to do - define requirements.

Our Story

Svtoo was founded in early 2023 by Oleksandr (Sasha) Antoshchenko in Vancouver, Canada.

Svtoo solves a series of problems that Sasha encountered a software engineer. It is not only that it takes a lot of time to build software, but it is also very hard to maintain it. Deployment and infrastructure is another thing that is usually underestimated by developers. And testing, especially test automation, is something that is often left behind completely.

Building Micro was a long journey of research and development. Since Micro is a complete platform, it involves many different technologies and disciplines from User Interface to Artificial Intelligence. Micro uses the latest advancements in AI, and during its development, we had to solve many challenges, as the application of AI in software development is still a relatively new field. Deployment and infrastructure automation is another area where we had to innovate, as we wanted to make the deployment of software as easy as possible. Thankfully, we now have Micro to help us with that.

Micro was launched December 2023, for closed alpha testing. Since then, we have been working with select partners to refine the platform and prepare for public release. We improved the user interface, added more features, and made the platform more stable and reliable.

Since May 2024, we started using Micro to build Micro, which we believe is not just a proof of the platform's capabilities, but also super cool 😎.

Meet the Founder

Oleksandr (Sasha) Antoshchenko

Oleksandr (Sasha) Antoshchenko is the founder of Svtoo. He is a software engineer with over 15 years of experience in distributed systems, tech leadership, and test automation.

With prior experience in companies like Amazon and Expedia, where he built and led teams that delivered high-quality software at scale, Sasha has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by software development teams. He is passionate about using AI to transform the way software is developed and maintained and is dedicated to creating a world where software development is faster, more efficient, and more accessible to everyone.

Studies

According to the research (see table below), development and deployment of software on average takes 75% of the software development budget. But this effort is purely about "How" the software is implemented and deployed. And only around 25% of the budget is spent on "What" the software does. Micro eliminates any need for the "How" part, allowing developers to focus on the "What" part.

We use Micro to build Micro, and we also use Micro to build this website. In our experience, Micro makes software development around 10x faster. We think that this is because Micro puts requirements in the focus of the development process and as such helps to drive the development in the right direction.
